The tastings continue relentlessly: today 50+ German 2009s in the upstairs tasting room of Bordeaux Index. Gareth (Who Are All The Pies) Birchley complains that I did not mention his peerless organization of last week’s Egon Müller tasting, so now that’s out of the way, the Rieslings are generally splendid although the old adage: “You cannot beat a Dönnhoff” must be applied because their wines are stellar.I take a short break for Monika Schuster’s delicious salmon and cous cous, although there her exquisite 100-point quiche must have been devoured by husband Michael for breakfast. I work through the evening, watch a couple’s dreams implode on ITV’s “The Million Pound Drop” with Davina McCall and then serendipitously chance upon a stunning remix of Felix de Housecat’s epic “Silver Screen” on Youtube (Malibu Mix in case you are wondering.) This has be mentally bopping around the room whilst typing away seeking inspiration.
