I take Daisy to the local surgery for her swine flu vaccination. She is a brave girl, barely flinches when she has the injection although her dad averts his eyes since he feels nauseous at the sight of needle penetrating skin. He congratulates himself for being a brave boy. Daisy receives a chocolate button for her bravery whilst her dad…? He receives nothing, which I think is rather unfair.
Afterwards, we troupe round the corner to inspect yet another prospective abode for the Martin family and yet again it is disgracefully over-priced and would embassass a shanty town. The estate agent seems to expect a decision on the spot, as if we are buying a loaf of bread. I wind him up by telling him that I would not pay more than £50,000 below his joke of an asking price and he looks at me aghast. Frankly speaking, I do not think we can afford to buy in the area we are renting in.
I then walk into Guildford in the morning to procure a French atlas for the drive down to Bordeaux next week, one Mother’s Day card, one Nikon Coolpix camera and one tube of cold sore cream (which is subsequently mislaid after 15 minutes.) In the afternoon, Tomoko makes her journey into town whilst myself and the girls drive down to Waitrose to buy ingredients for my Moroccan apricot lamb that I am rustling up tonight. Daisy chooses flowers for her mother, pink of course and the most expensive. She carries/drags the bouquet around the aisles so that by the time we reach the checkout the flowers look rather bedraggled.
They are discretely returned and exchanged for a fresh bunch.
My Moroccan lamb is a complete success (once jazzed up with extra cumin.)
