Thursday 11th March

I am worried about our goldfish. Goldfish are supposed to waggle their tails and do lengths of the fishtank, but “Goldie” floats like flotsam in the corner, virtually motionless. It reminds me of the final, frenetic scene in the Blair Witch Project, whereupon in the final reel, you catch a fleeting, disturbing glimpse of that presumedly possessed guy standing stationary in the naughty corner whilst his friend is getting being chased by a witch. I fear that “Goldie” may be possessed by a spirit, perhaps one of his three mates from Godalming Homebase’s pet department that all perished within the first few days of joining us, their foster parents?

Should I call an aquatic exorcist?

I work intensely all day, writing up the Petrus chapter of my book, knitting together interviews, vignettes and factual information. I realize whilst doing this, just much information on the Internet is a) wrong and b) wrong and plagiarised.

In the evening, I attend an intimate launch party for Remington Norman’s new Burgundy book, co-written with Charles Taylor MW whose office in Victoria forms the venue. I must admit, I am hoping to snaffle a free copy since it is forty quid a throw, but since it will not fit into my rucksack, I decide that would be immoral when people have worked so hard upon its creation and it is a) not wrong and b) not plagiarised.

  1. Hi Neil, good to see you at the Champagne tasting earlier today. Hope your drive down to Bordeaux goes well.

Interesting comments on Petrus inaccuracies and plagiarism in this post. Will you be elaborating on this?
