Mosel Road Bridge: My Solution

I’ve been thinking recently. A new pastime, but I am getting used to it.

No…I have been thinking about the bridge, the Moselhighbridge, that is due to span the Mosel Valley near Urzig, thus destroying prime vineyard sites, centuries of viticultural heritage and generally spoiling what is a splendid view. Call me defeatist, but once politicians have the bit between their teeth they are nigh impossible to stop, they refuse to change their minds even if they know they are wrong. That’s a sign of weakness.

Therefore, assuming that the bridge is fait accompli, my proposal is that wine-lovers vote upon which Mosel vineyard actually deserves a six-lane concrete motorway through it.

Don’t like Graacher?

You know where to place your vote.

Too much sunshine in your Sonnenuhr?

You’ll feel better when the tyres of a 36-ton articulated is roaring over it.

Was your bottle of Dr. Loosen’s Piesporter corked?

Seek revenge by erecting a 24-hour service station over his vineyard.

Democracy never smelt so sweet.
